First Lady's Meme Coin Creators Facing Market Manipulation Fraud Legal Action
The developers responsible for a cryptocurrency launched by US First Lady Melania Trump have been alleged in legal documents of executing a market manipulation plot.
Coin Release and Price Surge
The $MELANIA tokens were released for a minimal price each on January 19th, one day preceding Donald Trump took office.
Together with the Melania cryptocurrency, Donald Trump released his personal token a few hours before the swearing-in event.
Within hours, the market value of the $MELANIA coin skyrocketed to $13.73 per unit.
Sudden Collapse in Price
However, the price then collapsed with similar speed, and presently trades for less than 15 cents – under a fraction of its highest value.
At the same time, the $TRUMP cryptocurrency hit a high of $45.47 and currently exchanges for approximately five seventy-nine.
Court Claims and Investors' Arguments
The claimants assert that the token's architects executed the scheme knowing that the digital currency's value would crash.
Melania Trump herself is not named in the lawsuit. Investors clarified they do not consider she was at fault, but charged the blockchain organizations of exploiting her and other familiar faces as a facade for their illegal activities.
Exchange Platform Role
According to recently submitted legal documents, plaintiffs accuse executives of the Meteora digital asset exchange, where the First Lady's token was originally listed, of creating a plan that permitted them to discreetly acquire large quantities of the cryptocurrency.
Their partners then rapidly offloaded these cryptocurrencies, earning significant gains while causing the market to collapse, according to records entered in Manhattan federal court.
Wider Proceedings
The allegations concerning the First Lady's coin have been added to judicial actions regarding several other cryptocurrencies, which started in April.
The Trump family has reportedly generated in excess of one billion dollars in pre-tax profits from several digital currency-linked products and companies over the past 12 months.
