Los Merengues winger Vinicius Jr has expressed regret to the fanbase for his conduct when taken off in the recent intense match against Barcelona victory.

He was replaced in the 72nd minute and displayed his annoyance by walking immediately off the pitch.

Vinicius later returned to the sidelines and, following his club's 2-1 win, sought to engage Barça's Lamine Yamal during unpleasant after the game scenes.

"Today I want to express regret to all the supporters for my reaction when I was taken off in the big match," Vinicius shared on X.

"Just as I have said in person during this morning's practice, I wish to apologise again to my teammates, the club, and the club president.

"At times passion gets the better of me because I always want to win and assist my team. My determined nature originates in the affection I feel for this team and each thing it stands for."

Vinicius signed for Madrid from Brazil in 2018 for millions and has scored 111 goals in numerous matches.

But his future in the Madrid is far from certain with speculation in recent months indicating that Real would consider permitting the young star move on if they got a good proposal.

When the winger was replaced on the match day, cameras from coverage provider the platform recorded him stating: "It's always me! I'm leaving the team! It's wiser if I depart, I'm going."

In his new message on the platform, the athlete said: "I promise to keep striving at all times for the benefit of the club, as I have performed since the initial arrival."
