Vehicles in German Town Found Marked with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Officers mentioned they were notified by a individual who discovered a vehicle in Hanau covered with red-colored fluid

Around 50 cars have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Cars, exterior walls and postal boxes were vandalized, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they reported in a statement.

Law enforcement report they were notified late on Wednesday, when a resident noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.

The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a swastika, they reported.

Police then discovered numerous other marked cars and residential walls in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under laws outlawing the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials say initial examinations indicate the substance was most likely blood from a person.

"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; investigators are presently not cognizant of any harm in relation with the incident," they stated.

Municipal representatives announced they were working "to resolve the case" and have requested to the community for tips.

An important official stated the incident left him stunned and required to be solved rapidly.

"This act affects the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the extremist terrorist attack five years ago," he wrote on social media, recalling the death of nine individuals by a gunman targeting individuals of immigrant origin in five years prior.
